We're aware of the Linux kernel local privilege escalation vulnerability disclosed on 29 April 2026, publicly known as "Copy Fail" (CVE-2026-31431). This issue affects the `authencesn` cryptographic template in the Linux kernel and could allow a local user to escalate privileges on an affected system.

**What we've done**

We have already applied mitigations across all Webfort infrastructure to neutralise this vulnerability ahead of full upstream kernel patches landing in our distribution. All servers have been verified as no longer susceptible to the disclosed exploit path.

**Have we been affected?**

No. We have reviewed our systems and found no evidence whatsoever of exploitation.

**Do customers need to do anything?**

No action is required on your part. Our hosting, email and DNS services are unaffected, and there has been no downtime associated with this work.

We'll continue to monitor upstream guidance and apply the official kernel updates from our distribution as soon as they're released, at which point we may schedule a brief, pre-announced reboot on the affected servers.
